What does the Ohio Lieutenant Governor

The Ohio Lieutenant Governor is the state’s second highest-ranking official. The Lieutenant Governor is the first in the line to succeed the governor From 1852 to 1979, the Ohio Lieutenant Governor served as president of the Ohio State Senate.

Incumbent Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted and Cuyahoga County Councilmember Cheryl Stephens are running for the position.

CHERYL STEPHENS (D)

Cheryl Stephens is the running mate of gubernatorial candidate Nan Whaley. She is a resident of Cuyahoga County, representing district 10 on the Cuyahoga County Council. Stephens worked as the director of acquisition, disposition and development at the Cuyahoga Land Bank for eight years. Stephens earned her Master's in Public Administration from the University of Dayton. She is currently CEO of the East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation (EANDC), a non-profit dedicated to improving access to safe and affordable housing.

JON HUSTED(R)

Jon Husted is the 66th lieutenant governor of Ohio. He has served in many levels of the state government, including as Ohio’s secretary of state from 2011 to 2019,a state senator from 2008-2010 and a state representative from 2000 to 2008. During his tenure in the state house, he was Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2005 to 2009. Husted opposes abortion rights and wants to cut taxes.
